To configure a parameter to use the value defined for the logged-in user in User Parameters or IP Parameters

If the parameter has been defined as a Master Field:

  • Navigate to Master Fields
  • Find the parameter and click on the edit icon
  • Open the Parameter Data tab
  • Check the User Attribute parameter
  • If the User / IP Parameter is to be hidden from the end user (e.g. where the parameter is being used to enforce Data Access Control) open the Dataset Field and check the “Hidden” checkbox.
  • Click Update
  • Check the “To be Linked” checkbox for the Datasets that are to take parameter values from this User / IP Parameter
  • Click Update

If the parameter has not been defined in Master Fields:

  • Open the Dataset the parameter is to be applied to in the Data Federation Module
  • Open the Parameter Definition tab
  • Click the Advanced button in the row for that Parameter
  • Check the User Parameter checkbox
  • If the User or IP Parameter is to be a default, check the Visible checkbox. Uncheck this box if the Parameter is to be used for Data Access Control.
  • Click Apply
  • Save the Dataset

Note: if no user or IP parameter value has been defined for a user or IP address in User Parameters or IP Parameters, the parameter value saved in the view will be used at run-time.
