When grouping has been added, the Analyser grid can be sorted Ascending or Descending by clicking on the Grouped Field. An arrow will indicate whether groups are sorted Ascending or Descending.

The Groups in the Grid will sort according to how the view is configured. A grouped view can be sorted in 2 ways: by Group Value and by Summary Value.

Changing how Groups are Sorted

To change which sorting is applied to the groups, right-click anywhere on the Analyser Grid and choose either “Sort by Group Value” or “Sort by Group Summary”.

Sorting by Group Value

Sorting by Group Value is the default behaviour and will alphabetically sort the groups by the value the the grouped column.
For example, if the grouped column is “Examiner Name”, sorting by Group Value will sort alphabetically by the Examiner’s name. Similarly, if the Grouped Column is “Sale Date”, sorting by Group Value will sort the dates in ascending or descending order.

Sorting Summary Value

Sorting by Summary Value allows the user to define a group summary that should be used to sort the view.
For example, there may be a summary showing a SUM of the “Sale Total”. Sorting by this Summary value descending would show the groups in order of the group with the highest “Sale Total” first with the rest of the groups in descending order.

To choose which Group Summary will be used in the sorting, open the group summary properties and check “Sort by this Summary”
