User Parameters allow Datasets to take one or more of their run-time parameters from the logged in user.

They can be used in two ways:

  1. To provide Data Access Control by limiting a user to only being able to run a dataset for a specified parameter value (the run-time parameter is hidden from users)
  2. To provide a “default” value for a parameter based on the logged in user (the run-time parameter is visible to users)

To add a new User Parameter:

  • Click on “Add New User Parameter” to display a list of the parameters currently defined in Nathean Analytics. (A Parameter must have been added to a Dataset before it can be configured as a User Parameter.)
  • Select a parameter and click “Update”
  • The User parameter will now be available to be defined for users:

To set User Parameter Values:

  • Click on the users icon
  • Click on Add User
  • Select the User to add the parameter value to from the drop down menu
  • Enter the value to be used for the chosen user
  • Click Update to save.

See here for details on configuring a Dataset to make use of the defined User Parameters
