At the heart of the Nathean Analytics is the concept of Datasets & Views.

A Dataset is a collection of data that corresponds to the result set of a database query, an API call, a worksheet from a Spreadsheet or the linking of two or more Datasets to create a “multi-source dataset”.

  • Datasets can be defined wtih parameters which allow users to determine the data to be returned when calling upon that dataset e.g. Start Date and End Date, Region, Department etc.
  • Field Definitions allow users to determine how data should be displayed within the system (the Name a field should be shown as, the type of data within the field, how many decimal places a number should be returned with, the date format to use for a date field, any Hints that describe a field for users etc.).
  • Datasets can be configured to run in real-time against the source of their data, to cache their results in-memory or to physically store the data in a database table in the Nathean Analytics Datamart.
